I created this anatomy study guide for my drawing students when i started teaching at the Cathedral of Saint John the Divine on the upper Westside of NYC. I was able to get my hands on a real skeleton for the time that I worked in the studio there, so I was able to draw some detailed representations of the its bone structure. These drawings eventually became the seed for a series of articles that i wrote for American Artist’s Drawing Magazine. Over the course of 2 years i write the Understanding Anatomy Column. An immensely useful education for myself, and hopefully for the readers that came along on the journey with me.
This Booklet outlines the basic anatomy of the head/portrait as an atlas reference, also included are notes on my concept of relative sizing drawing and individual proportions.
